Camp Hilights 2019

Camp Anaura Bay 2019.

This year 2019 room four Matawai school went to Anaura bay for their camp.

It was very  fun and we came out with a lot of memories, here are some of them.

Me and my Friends and a couple of adults, started a game of cricket on the beach. The sea breeze would just lift the and it would go flying. Anyway we kept on catching all of the adults out. The ball we were using was really bouncy so we would just wait for the bounce  and then catch them on one bouncy one hand.

We were doing an advance race, with Mrs Redpath. All of a sudden there is a laddie yelling at us telling us that there was bird es nesting in the dunes, but we wernt in the dunes we were on the beach.

It was really sad when we had to leave and go back to Matawai.

Eels At The Hustlers

Eel
Dorsal fins flapping out of the water,
Meat getting gulped up,
Harakeke getting used for string,
Feet getting wet.
Tusks popping up out of the water,
Quietly whispering to friends to get more meat,
Murky water flowing fast,
Luring with meat one by one,
Saying “Goodbye” to the big brown Eels.

Maths Quiz

Today I was learning How to use animations GIFs and how to link slides.
I enjoyed thinking of maths problems based around motorcross.
I found it challenging to fill out all four slides.

Bye To The Dental Clinic

Farewell To The Dental Clinic.

Today at Matawai school we had to say goodbye to the Dental Clinic.

A man named Kerry came with his digger and pulled it away, It took down our compost bin, and two fences down. 

The digger snapped down some branches so it didn't break his hydraulics. It ripped out plants and it had to go over a 2 meter gap, now that was cool to watch.

Right now the Dental Clinic is were it belongs.

Taniwha slow writing

Today I was learning slow writing where we had to write six sentences about a Taniwha.

I enjoyed thinking of something sharp when I wrote my simile in the first sentence.
I found it challenging to think of an animal to compare the taniwha to.

Matariki Brush Nija

Today I was learning To create a Matariki brush ninja.
I enjoyed drawing the twigs on the out side of the frame.
I found it challenging to make the stars.
My digital learning object shows that I am not that good at keeping my hand steddy.
When you started brush ninja did you forget to put your background first?

Today we learnt how to use lunapic.
It was hard to decided what animation to use, there were hundreds of diffrent types.
It was challenging to get the pic into my drive. I really enjoyed matching mine with my friends.

Dream Animal

Dream Animal
My dream animal will have an astronaut helmet, and underneath that there will be….. a gorilla head, for the legs there will be set of 2 legs off a greyhound/whippet.
Horse hind legs so if something tries to kill me I can defend myself.

It will have some gorilla arms so that if there was something I had to pick up or hang on it would be easy. Great white shark teeth. Gills so that it can breathe underwater, fins so that it can swim underwater.
And obviously a unicorn horn!!!! Hopefully I don’t get hurt!!!

Respect Report

Room 4 had a challenge, about respect.
We had the choice of making a online poster or a poster by hand so if someone came, to our school they would know what respect means.
We could do it as a poster or on a piece of paper. We had to find a few things that respect means to them.There were was a lot of sayings like e.g. My Mum and Dad went through school with out google.

It was really fun because of me went through a lot of web sites on Google and found a lot of new sayings.

If you were someone that was hurt on the sports field I would take them and get them a ice pack and get help.

Respect means at home…

Doing chores for your parents, packing up your belongings so you do. Respecting animals by feeding them, and playing with them.

About Me

Hi my name is Duncan. I go to Matawai  School. I am a year 6. I love writing because I have a good imagination and I find it easy.  I am in wood work. We can  go to sowing, wood work, or cooking. I really love,  George Bridge, Richie McCaw,  Beauden Barrett,   and Damian McKenzie.

We have a rugby field a swimming pool and 3 playgrounds. We have a balance  beam. We also have a tire swing,  we have basketball hoops, also swings and the big old wooden fort. I live on a sheep and beef farm and I have a motorbike I do motocross in  Gisborne. Each year we have a cross country which is 10 minutes away from matawai school we run up hills run-down hils and the occasional river crossing.

 I play rugby, hockey and I love it. I play rugby for Ngatapa and I am in a under 11 team. In rugby I am a lock and I really loved it because we get to bash each other around. hockey I play for our school and so far we have won  5 games. I really enjoy getting cast ewes and just help helping my Dad out. in one week we have a ukulele concert  in Gisborne.
